To allow each attendee to obtain maximum benefit from the day, we normally recommend an upper limit of around 8 delegates, although we are happy to discuss this with you.

(Consider enrolling staff members whose role is allied to DSE. For example, those buying DSE-related equipment may also find this entry-level course helpful.)

Courses – Basic DSE Assessor and Assessor Plus+

Q. Do you do a half day course?

A. Although the subject is mainly based on common sense, there is still a lot to understand - the regulations being a 68-page document. While the theory could potentially be condensed to less than a day’s course, we believe that the objective is to engender confidence and troubleshooting skills, enabling the Assessor to demonstrate their newly acquired knowledge and skills straight away. Our practical demonstrations do require a full day to complete, but they bring the subject to life and are critical to an effective learning experience.

Q. What about a half-day refresher course?

A. We would be pleased to discuss this option with you - however, we have found that even those already fulfilling a DSE Assessor’s role have found both the theory and practical revision most worthwhile. In fact, they often comment that it has sharpened their already existing skills and knowledge.

Q. What are the start and finish times?

A. Registration is 9.30am for 9.45am start - Finish time is around 3.30/3.45pm - although the Trainer can add time at the end for a Q&A session, if requested.

Q. What if I need to leave early (part-time worker or for child care etc.)?

A. Of course, that’s not a problem. You may miss out on some of the practical sessions, but we would ask that you advise the Trainer at the beginning of the day so they can ensure you have all essential information before you leave.

Q. Who should attend this course?

A. The course is ideal for anyone who uses display screen equipment (computers) in the course of their work, and those with responsibility for overseeing regulatory compliance, such as HR or occupational health professionals.

It is perfect for managers, as an understanding of how DSE can impact productivity and the wellbeing of employees can aid policy and process management. Those involved in the purchase (and installation) of IT equipment, furniture and/or peripherals such as monitor stands, footrests, devices, etc. can also make more informed acquisitions that do not undermine the core principles of the regulations - as well as saving money!

Q. Do I need to have any previous experience?

A. No, the ‘Essential’ DSE Assessor Training course covers everything you need to know. The DSE Assessor ‘Plus’ course is for those who have sound experience as DSE Assessors.

Q. How adaptable is your course?

A. With the extensive knowledge of our Trainers, we can be responsive to requests from our clients, to adapt some course content to reflect corporate requirements. Our on-premise course can be personalised to match the knowledge level of the delegates, and to include information based on your reporting system/on-line self-assessment or other procedures. Please call us to discuss your needs with the Trainer.

Q. I have booked a course - what happens next?

A. Thank you booking with HWS. You should receive an immediate acknowledgement of your order and payment (where applicable) via email. For on-site courses our Training Co-ordinator will follow up with a call to confirm your details and answer any questions you may have, as well as advising on room requirements and refining your personalised course content to ensure smooth delivery of the course. Prior to the training day we will ask you to complete relevant forms that tell us about the delegates (for Certificate preparation) and confirm venue facilities/location/parking etc.

Q. I need to change/adapt the date?

A. We understand that due to business/staff management there may be a requirement to change the agreed date(s). We will always do our utmost to accommodate your alternative plans, without any additional charge.

Please refer to our Cancellation Policy.

We look forward to delivering your DSE Assessor Training course and hope that this information is of help. However, should you have any further queries or questions that are not covered above, please do hesitate to contact us at any time.

Once trained, we would like to invite you to expand your knowledge as a DSE Assessor with our complimentary Ergonomic Product Workshop which will provide you with a deeper understanding of ergonomic products, and how to select appropriate solutions for your organisational needs.
